Class Descriptions

BASIC DRAWING 1 This is an introductory class in Drawing where we will cover basic techniques such as Contour Drawing, Gesture Drawing, Shading,  One Point Perspective, Human figure proportions, and much more. We will read the book A Child’s History of Art/Painting by Hillyer. The reading is on this site for your convenience. (2 classes offered)

  DRAWING 2 This is for those who have had previous instruction in Drawing. It will introduce some more techniques in color and black and white and look at Art History as well, copying Masters and reading the Hillyer book.

Students will need a spiral sketchbook and a set of drawing pencils which can be purchased at Jerry’s or Michael’s .

PAINTING CLASS/MIXED MEDIA                                                                   

Students should have some past experience and instruction in drawing to take the painting class as we usually draw before painting. We will paint a watercolor landscape and still life in acrylic and copy of a Master’s piece in oil. We will also work in various media including woodblock prints, scratchboard, collage, mixed media *Painting supplies will be provided for an additional $25 supply fee/semester, or purchased individually.

FRENCH 1                                                                                                                         

I will offer three French Classes:

1. High school level class, although I accept younger students as well.(ages 12-18) We will use the Glencoe’s  Bon Voyage workbook and textbook to do oral and written exercises in class and for homework. We will practice conversation as well. (Tuesday 3:00-4:00)                                                                                                                           

2. An elementary level French Class(ages 5-11) This is an introduction to the language class which will teach basic conversational phrases, numbers, colors, and fun stories. I will use various books and curricula for this class which I will be provided as well as POWER-GLIDE FRENCH The Ultimate Foreign Language Adventure. Older Editions are fine to use. If you can find the curriculum with the CD’s that is ideal.                                                               

 

3. French 1 Continued from last year(Wednesdays 2:00-3:00). We will take up where we left off in BonVoyage Textbook and Workbook.
